Welcome to the International Academy for Professional Development. The International Academy provides a range of different blended and distance learning professional development programmes using the expertise available through its group of Centres of Expertise and Faculties. These Centres include the Centre for Stress Management which was established in 1987 and the Centre for Coaching which was launched in 2001.
The International Academy offers the following professional development and practice programmes:

The International Academy has online library facilities which include relevant articles and books. Students attending our courses in London are able to use City Business Library which has a range of excellent facilities and databases. Our Online Journal section provides links to free academic journals. The articles and papers can inform studies and research.
The Director of the International Academy is Professor Stephen Palmer PhD PISCP. This year we are delighted to be celebrating 30 years of the Centre for Stress Management. During 2017 we will be sponsoring events and other activities as part of our celebrations. We thank staff, trainers, students, alumni and visiting lecturers for the support they have given us since 1987.
BRIEF OVERVIEW OF CENTRES, FACULTIES & COURSE RECOGNITION BODIES
The Centre for Coaching, International Academy for Professional Development runs a range of Professional body recognised and approved courses. Most modules i.e. primary or certificate courses, can be taken as individual modules or put towards a diploma programme. Three of the Diploma courses are blended and distance learning and include academic supervision.
The Centre for Coaching runs the Association for Coaching Accredited Advanced Diploma in Coaching
programme which provides opportunities for participants to become knowledgeable about
the theory, research and practice of coaching. The programmes provide over 100 hours of training plus a distance learning component.
Chartered Association of Business Administrators (CABA)is a not-for-profit professional body chartered Federally under Letters Patent granted by the Government of Canada. Chartered Association of Business Administrators® is also a registered mark with the US Government Patent and Trade Mark office. Successful completion of the International Academy and the Centre's diploma programmes can lead to Chartered Coaching designations.
The International Academy for Professional Development is an ILM Recognised Provider. As a recognised provider, the International Academy and Centres run a wide range of approved ILM coaching and management development programmes which are suitable for Continuing Professional Development. On completion of their programme, students receive an ILM Development certificate. Our Centre for Coaching ILM Advanced Development Awards qualify successful candidates for Associate Membership of the ILM. Those with more than five years experience may also apply for full Membership of the ILM.
The Centre for Stress Management is an international training centre and stress consultancy. The Centre offers runs management and prevention programmes, stress audits and research, stress counselling, coaching and training. As the Centre was established in 1987, it has become one of the leading providers of stress management training for trainers, health, management, caring and HR professionals in the United Kingdom. Since 1987 it has trained many thousands of health, management and professionals from other fields of work.
The British Psychological Society Learning Centre approves the Centre for Stress Management and the Centre for Coaching short 2-day Primary and extended Certificate courses for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
The International Academy for Professional Development and National Wellbeing Service launched the Centre for Neuroscience on 6th May, 2016 to focus on developing and providing neuroscience courses that are linked to the programmes provided by our sister organisations
The International Academy, Centres and Faculties have International Society for Coaching Psychology (ISCP)Approved Centre status and recognise our courses for Continuing Professional Development and Education (CPDE). The courses can also be used towards the ISCP accreditation portfolio process.
Our students and alumni can join our Faculty of Professional Development. Membership allows students and alumni to gain access to free textbooks on a range of topics. Faculty staff are editing a range of free textbooks to provide background reading to our courses. Some books will be made .
