History

When we first established the Centre for Stress Management in 1987, the Centre for Rational Emotive Therapy in the early 1990s, and then the Centre for Coaching in 2001, most learners came from the United Kingdom. During the 2000s this changed. Learners started attending our courses from all over the world. However, due to the challenging economic situation during 2008, Learners asked us to provide more online and distance learning programmes too. This saved on their time, travel expenses and hotel costs. In addition, professional bodies now expect their members to undertake regular Continuing Professional Development and Education (CPDE) and our qualified alumni have asked us to provide a flexible CPDE approach.

In order to increase efficiency we centralised our administration by setting up the International Academy for Professional Development Ltd which now deals with group programmes and projects such as organising course accreditation and recognition and providing online resources.

In March 2020 all of our training quickly transferred over to distance learning due to the impact of COVID restrictions. Fast-track to 2022, the Academy and Centres have become distance learning training providers. We also launched the National Academy of Coaching Psychology to provide supervision services for psychologists and coaches.
